Unique honour for Naomh Éanna member and former Tyrone referee Paddy Devlin.

Congratulations to Paddy Devlin who on 10th March 2006 was presented with the "Referee Hall of Fame" award at the National Referees Banquet in Jurys Croke Park Hotel. Paddy, pictured below, from Naomh Eanna An Omaigh was the first Tyrone referee to be accorded the honour of refereeing not one but two All-Ireland Senior Football Finals - 1972 All Ireland Final Offaly V Kerry and the 1974 All Ireland Final between Dublin and Galway. The following link shows Paddy refereeing the Final. Watch out for him running off at the end wearing a yellow shirt:

or go to the following website and click on listen there http://www.rte.ie/laweb/ll/ll_t05c.html

At this website you will also be able to view and listen to the chants of the Dublin's supporters or "Heffo's Army" as they were known when captain Sean Doherty collected the Sam Maguire trophy. Dublin captain Sean Doherty and his team took a few minutes to get through the celebrating supporters onto the Hogan Stand to receive the Sam Maguire Cup. The banner-carrying, scarf-clad Dublin supporters owed a lot in image to cross-channel soccer but brought a whole new colour to G.A.A.. Despite the Dubs supporters constant chants for 'Heffo', the Dublin manager Kevin Heffernan stayed in the background.

Paddy also had the pleasure of refereeing the following finals: 1967 All-Ireland Minor (Cork v Laois); National league Finals in Croke park (Kerry v Roscommon, drawn game and replay); Railway Cup Final in Croke Park, (Leinster v Munster drawn game in Croke park and replay in Athletic Grounds in Cork); Sigeron Cup Final in Athletic Grounds, Cork (U.C.D V Maynooth); 1971 Ulster Final in Casement (Derry V Down); 1974 Ulster Final in Clones (Down V Donegal, drawn game and replay); Ulster Junior Club Championship and 21 Finals. Dr McKenna Cup Final and 2 Tyrone and Donegal Senior Championship Finals; Balboa stadium, San francisco (Offaly v All Stars); Connacht Final in Castlebar (Galway V Mayo), Ulster, and Connacht semi-final and finals in the same year. Paddy refereed his first Tyrone senior football championship in 1960. Paddy is a LEGEND at Omagh St Enda's.
