Tyrone U21 Knockout Semi-final
Clonoe 1-4 St. Enda's 2-12
St. Enda's cruised to the final of the U21 Knockout competition following a comfortable 11 points win over Clonoe on Saturday afternoon.
The home side had high hopes of causing an upset and indeed they got off to the perfect start when full forward Dan McNulty shrugged off all challenges to rifle to ball to the back of Ryan Clarke's net within the first minute.
But that's where the threat really ended and for the rest of the game, the Omagh men dug deep to produce a comprehensive display that was consistently solid and efficient.
Two points from Conan G
rugan frees in the fourth and seventh minutes reduced Clonoe's early lead to just one point and when Cormac O'Neill was put through by Chris Gallagher to hammer the ball to the net in the 12th minute, the home side were left to fight an uphill battle for the remainder of the contest.
Clonoe added just two points in the first half, both of which came from frees by Declan McClure, while the impressive Grugan brothers added three super points with Aaron setting up Ryan McBride for another to establish a 1-7 to 1-2 interval lead.
Clonoe did raise their game immediately after the break with McClure and Magee adding two points within the first ten minutes, but they failed to make much headway against a battling St. Enda's defence that produced a good all-round performance with goalkeeper Ryan Clarke in great form, pulling off great stops in either half.
At the other end of the pitch, Ronan and Shane O'Neill dominated the second half scoring and caused all sorts of problems for Clonoe to tag on five points from play and frees.
With the home side reduced to fourteen minute for the final eight minutes, the result was a mere formality and for the second game in succession, Aaron Grugan wrapped up a confident display with a rasping goal on the stroke of full time after taking a neat pass from Ronan O'Neill.
No date has been set for the the final with Dromore due to play Donaghmore in the second semi-final.
