2011 proved to be an historic year for one group of girls footballers in St. Enda's with our U-16 development squad becoming the first under age ladies football team to take to the field at this level.
This was always going to be a massive challenge as they had to step out of the comfort of playing in an 'A' team and instead compete constantly against other club's 'A' teams.
While victories were hard to come by, these girls showed tremendous courage and resilience despite some early setbacks in the league.
They will be able to look back with pride as they grew in stature and ability as a team with some enthralling matches, in particular going in at half time leading a talented Urney side 3-02 to 2-03. We wish them all the best in their future footballing careers as they are all stars for stepping up to this challenge. Well done girls.
